Type Locality and Naming
The Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Regional Stratigraphic Sheet Preparation Group was named in 1981. The named section is located in Haojiagou, Urumqi, Xinjiang. Upper formation in the Xiaoquangou Gr.
Lithology and Thickness
It is yellow-green and gray-green sandstone, conglomerate and mudstone with unequal thickness, interbedded with carbonaceous mudstone, coal line, rhodochrosite nodules and thin layers of stacked cone tuff. It is 217 m thick.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The bottom part is in integrated contact with the underlying Huangshanjie Fm
Upper contact
The top part is in pseudo-integrated contact with the Lower Jurassic Badaowan Fm

Fossils
Plants: Bernouillia zeilleri, Danaeopsis fecunda, Podozamites sp., Cladophlebis cf. kaoiana; small spores produced in the area of Jimusaer and Fukang: Dictyophyllidites-Apiculatisporites-Nonstriate bisaccaae assemblage; macrospores: Calamospora rhaeticus-Trileites vulgaris-Hughesisporites gibbosus assemblage; bivalves are also produced in Qitai County.
